Since its arrival on the world stage during the early 1990’s, the online bingo industry has been a major web power house that has seen growth which has amazed even the most reserved analysts in both the gaming and web site market segments. With earnings coming at over $1 billion in the past year alone, it has become clear that the industry’s growth will be radically faster than many had believed at the outset. The apparent trend towards a very high level of gamers playing at any given time of day or night has lead experts to predict that by 2012 the industry itself will be pulling in well over $2 billion per year, a figure that was unthinkable just a few short years ago. Much of this has to do with the huge jackpots that have come to be a regular state of affairs at many of the more popular online bingo parlors on the web today.

One of the major proponents of the industry’s growth is the CEO of Virtue Fusion, Bob McCulloch. His company was recently bought out by mega bingo developer Playtech at a soaring cost of over 36 million pounds. At the Online Bingo Summit set to take place in the summer of 2010, plenty of industry high ranking company leaders will be on hand and many of them are predicting big mergers between multi million dollar companies that are going to re-shape the bingo world on the web as we know it today. Most analysts still believe that the market itself has not even reached its full potential in terms of customer coverage.

One of the primary drivers for the growing number of bingo players on the web is not only the large cash prizes that are giving out at an ever increasing rate, it is the social aspect of the game which is far more of a community event than many other games of chance played over the web. This has lead the market to finding a unique customer base that has surprised many who believed that the web did not appeal to the demographic that is the vast bulk of bingo players: girls between 20 and 25 years of age. This group has consistently shown that chatting is a big part of why they play and because of that, sites are now going out of their way to bring more of a party type atmosphere to the games that they offer. These chat based games are offering a new experience for the gamers who make up the largest portion of the site’s patrons and changing the way that the games are delivered.

In today’s face paced world, the average bingo player is looking for more than just a game to get involved in, they are looking for a certain type of ambiance where conversations flow freely and the bingo operators have come to understand that supporting this type of feel will give them far more players and thus, the jackpots will naturally increase as the player base expands. By offering free cards to players in chat sessions, they are encouraging the players to see bingo as more of a life style than simply a game. Trivia is one of the fastest growing side games that fans are eating up like candy.

Online UK Bingo

One of the most true things about British culture is that they are well known for exporting various different practices around the world and are leaders in the entertainment industry in many respects. When it comes to bingo this is doubly true and most of the world’s online bingo sites are, in fact, based out of the United Kingdom where the industry pulls in a staggering one million pounds per year and is still growing. While bingo as we know it today actually got its start in the United States and not the UK, it was brought here right after it started out as a US cultural phenomenon and once it hit British shores it would not be long before the game became a cultural institution in this island nation, as well. Today, bingo is one of the biggest games in the country and one can find players engaged in a game in the casinos and bingo halls around the nation, a rabid fan base having been formed long ago, particularly strongly attuned to the 90 ball system of bingo that is now a big part of the online bingo culture. This is where people play a huge variety of different themed bingo games and enjoy bingo 24 hours a day over the web, as well. Many sites have their roots here including large bingo networks that span the globe and provide software for a number of sites on the web. This is a favorite past time and the jack pots have been getting bigger with each passing year as more industries have paired up with bingo providers in the fields of entertainment, music and movies to create special sites and casinos, as well.

One of the most surprising things about the populace that regularly takes part in bingo on the web and in the land based venues is that it is largely young and female. In fact, most UK players are girls between the ages of 20 and 25 years of age. This has become a real telling sign in the way that bingo is marketed here as the advert agencies have had to get quite savvy in order to appeals to what is a traditionally very ‘in the know’ and chic customer base. Big sites like Virgin, AOL, Yahoo and MSN have all come together to provide games over the web and really done a lot to make bingo more than a game and more like a life style choice of fun for many players. Thanks to the easy availability of the games over the web, players can now play 24 hours a day and the fact that there are many chat functions has really increased the drive for participation as bingo is quite a social affair for the crowds in the UK. There are a host of sites both big and small that cater to specific niches and the prizes in this country regularly go well into the hundreds of thousands of pounds, creating media sensations that continue to bring in more and more new fans.

Practice Makes Perfect
Most of those who have gotten quite good at bingo on the web know that they need to brush up their skills from time to time and so they will take part in a practice game or two here and there in order to make sure they are still firing with total accuracy. This is great, but it should be remembered that new players definitely need to start with a few games where there is nothing at stake if they are serious about getting good at bingo on the web. Learning the ropes is the first step and since there are no consequences in a practice game, this can be the best possible way to get started right away.

Choose the Right Size Game
There are a few different schools of thought when it comes to which size of game is best for a player to get started out in, but the general rule of thumb tends to be that the larger the game is, the more of a chance there is to win a nice big prize. This is because most jackpots are larger if there are more players involved since these are determined by the number of people playing in any given room at any one time. This is not the way some look at it, though. These other people feel that it is better to play in smaller rooms where the prizes might be smaller, but the chances to win are higher since there are fewer competitors. In the end, it is a player’s choice, but sticking with a strategy is generally a smart move.

Select Those Game Cards with Care
When it comes to bingo on the web, there will always be plenty of different choices for what sort of cards a player might want. There are the spendy cards that will award a higher bingo and there are the cheap cards that players might end up buying a whole fleet of. The important thing to remember when picking out the right cards is that there are costs and advantages to each of them so it becomes more about what a player’s goals are than anything else. Those players who want to be able to have a higher win will pick the more expensive cards knowing that they might have a tighter budget for games, but those players who buy fleets of cheaper cards are often hoping they have great odds at winning a number of games over a playing session. The strategy one chooses will depend upon their taste, but both of these are solid considerations, either way.

Pay Attention to the Game
There is a huge social component to any bingo game, online or offline, but it can be especially tricky to stay alert when one is enjoying a game of bingo on the web. The fact is, many of us will listen to music, watch TV and chat while we play bingo on the web. While this is not really a bad thing, it can mean that we end up overlooking the fact that we are nearing bingo. This is not a situation that anyone wants to experience, so it is definitely a wise idea to try and get the most that we can from our games by paying close attention or even using the auto daub and card highlighting systems built into the software we are using at the time. This is a great way to keep track of the fun and still be able to socialize in the process.

Everything Comes Together
The attention to detail and enthusiasm we bring to the table when we play on the web goes a long way towards our potential success at a game of bingo. By using the strategies presented here and paying attention to what works for us and what doesn’t, we can make smart choices and end up winning more regularly.

In the history of different games of chance around the world there are often not many details known about how the game originated or where it got started, but this is definitely not the case when ti comes to bingo because the scholars of history actually know precisely where this game got started: Italy. In the 15th Century, a game known as Lo Giuoco del Lotto d’Italia was begun in Italy and offered up as a national lottery, which is what the Italian name actually means. This game is still played in Italy in the same form and is a very well loved tradition that many Italians take part in regularly. There were big changes to follow in bingo’s evolution as it made its way up into France and then east into Germany. In these countries, it would be further shaped but it was the German people who discovered that ti could be a remarkably useful tool to teach children about a variety of different subjects such as common animal names, the letters of the alphabet and the numbers. This is all before the bingo that we know today existed, but it laid the ground work for what was to come in 1929 when a lone traveling sales man from New York City happened to be visiting the rural south of the United States, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. There, he spotted a carnival and decided to stroll through the games. He observed one tent game that seemed to have a large number of very excited players. The game holders were actually having to tell people that was enough for the night. The game was called beano and it is the basis of the bingo we know and love today, being played in those days with dried beans as markers for the cards.

That New York City sales man knew an opportunity when he saw one and once he got back to the city, he started to develop what would come to be known as bingo. He created cards by hiring a math whiz to develop all of them for him and then leased his concept to others so that they could sell the cards and hold their own games. This allowed the game to spread very fast all across the US and eventually over to Great Britain where it would be warmly embraced. In both countries, bingo has become something of a cultural tradition although it is played differently in each location. In the UK, bingo would take hold like no where else and the national past time would become a huge business like the world had never seen. The first online bingo sites may have been started up in the US, but it was the UK that would take the online game to new heights by developing a massive billion pound a year industry that has blown away all predictions for what gaming online might be capable of. Today, millions and millions of gamers are always playing either on the web or in land based venues across the globe.

The beauty of bingo is that it is a truly simple game so there is no need to be worried about being good at playing it because almost all of us, no matter where we grew up, were introduced to it in school or perhaps at a charity event. The fact is, bingo is one of those traditions in English speaking countries that would be very hard to get away from. The playing of the game on the web is a very straight forward affair that can be as simple as one likes or wild and crazy if they prefer the more innovative styles of gaming that are out there these days. To start with, all a player absolutely must have is a connection to the web and some sort of device such as a computer or mobile phone. Once these hard working, it is just a matter of finding a site that one would like to sign up to. If the right tools are in place then it is very easy to get started from here on out, but one may want to take a little time to check out the options when it comes to online bingo sites since there really are a wide variety of choices out there on the market these days. Players can take their pick of not just a huge number of different sites, but also a very wide variety of potential bonuses that are normally offered at the sites as a way of drawing in new people to sign up. Sign up is av very simple process that is designed to make sure that the site can verify the players identity to guard against people who might try to cheat and also to make sure that the person is of age for the nation from which they are native to. After this brief process, it is time to get started playing, but one detail needs to be kept in mind.

In order to keep things fair in the world of bingo games, there have been services set up which will process the payments to the site so that users can fund their bingo accounts with deposits and also so that they can draw the prize money out when they would like. These systems, known as e wallets, are set up just to give the best layer of protection to those who game on the web and they are meant to be a good way to keep everyone involved quite safe. Since this is easy to take care of, it is then time to decide which kind of bingo cards one would like to choose. Some players prefer more expensive cards that award bigger prizes and some would rather have more of the cheaper cards for better chances to win. The player will get to decide, but understanding this is a big part of a good strategy. Then, be sure to take advantage of the built in tools like auto marking of called numbers and, of course, highlighting so that the cards closest to bingo will be displayed and one doesn’t end up missing a win.
